Installation
FilesCom.PowerShell runs on Windows with PowerShell 7.4 or later and includes its runtime dependencies.
Use a PowerShell 7 session (pwsh) for the commands below. If you need it, see
Install PowerShell 7. Windows PowerShell 5.1 is not supported.
Windows Quick Start
Register NuGet.org once:
If you already registered that repository, skip registration and use its registered name below.
Install the latest stable module for your account, then import it:
A newly registered repository is untrusted, so installation prompts for confirmation. Answer Y to allow this
installation. -TrustRepository can suppress that prompt for this command without changing the repository's trust
setting. Omitting -Version installs the latest stable version.
Next, follow Authentication to connect to your Files.com site.
Install PowerShell 7
If PowerShell 7.4 or later is already installed, skip this section. Otherwise, install PowerShell with WinGet:
WinGet is included on Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025 with Desktop Experience. For systems without it, including
Windows Server 2022 and earlier, use Microsoft's
PowerShell installation instructions.
Open a new terminal and start pwsh before installing the module.
Finding Cmdlets and Help
After importing the module:
Get-Help <cmdlet> -Full shows parameters and examples. The command reference pages on this site use the same help
source. To check your session or installation, run $PSVersionTable.PSVersion or Get-Module FilesCom.PowerShell.
Get-PSResourceRepository shows registered repository names and addresses.
Upgrading and Pinning a Version
To upgrade, repeat Install-PSResource. Installed versions remain side by side. Start a new pwsh session and
import the module to load the newest installed version.
To choose a specific version, list those available:
Use that version with Install-PSResource -Version and Import-Module -RequiredVersion.
